      Miles & miles of navigable lakes and bayous, such as Lake Verret, meander throughout Assumption Parish providing ample opportunity for fishing,hunting and camping.  Louisiana's subtropical climate allows for year-round enjoyment of the abundant local wildlife. Listed below are a few of many fishing/hunting grounds in Assumption Parish. 


Attakapas Landing

     The recently renovated, Attakapas Landing is a public boat landing located at the end of Highway 401 in the southeastern quadrant of Lake Verret. Attakapas Landing also provides public access to the Elm Hall Wildlife Management Area.  Belle River Landing

     Belle River Landing includes a 300-foot long loading dock, a handicapped accessible loading ramp, expanded parking areas, and a pavilion for public gatherings. Lighting equipment and a surveillance system have also been installed. View a Map



 Elm Hall Wildlife Management Area

     The Elm Hall Wildlife Management Area, located in Assumption Parish, is approximately 5 miles west of Napoleonville. Access to the nearly 3,000-acre tract is available by boat through landings such as the public Attakapas Landing. Common game animals include white-tailed deer, rabbit, squirrel, and various water fowl.  Camping is also allowed in the designated camping area.
